TerpTax, a non-profit affiliated with the University of Maryland, aims to provide free tax preparation services to all low to mid-income individuals in the community according to VITA/TCE guidelines, to educate the public about taxes, and to provide both a valuable community service and a powerful hands-on learning experience for students of the Robert H. Smith School of Business.
All our volunteers are undergraduate and graduate students from the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland, College Park. These student volunteers gain valuable training and experience and are certified by the IRS in preparing tax returns and are supervised by faculty director Professor Samuel Handwerger, CPA.
