Reports to: Ron Verkleeren, SVP Emerging Innovations Group
Location: Corning, NY (Non-negotiable)
Job Responsibilities:
• Support the Innovation Office to communicate, operate efficiently
· Support near and long-term strategic options and recommendations to support the business:
o Bring forward strategic issues
o Define and implement Processes (particularly around Portfolio Management)
o Generate and analyze research and data
o Consider strategic and tactical implications
o Present recommendations, with action plans and, execute
• Utilize advanced analytic tools, process rigor and appropriate cross functional participation to confirm quality, depth and consistency of strategic decisions
• Rely on financial analysis, market and competitive intelligence, statistical analysis and technical understanding to buttress strategy
· Participate on Project Aurora (Liquid Crystal Window) Steering Team to ensure COC-aided Balance-Of-System items like “Quick-Connect“ wiring and window “operating software“ solutions are guided
• Engage in and with multi-functional Innovation teams as an arm for Innovation Officer, using Innovation Process Tools for:
o Development of value propositions for products & services
o Market/ opportunity forecasting
o Competitive assessments (working with Strategy Team and in-house Consulting Group)
o Communicate with senior global business and functional leaders in presentation written and oral formats – act as “Arm” of Innovation Officer with such Teams
Education, Experience & Skills:
• Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in engineering or technical discipline
• 2-7 years experience or equivalent in/with Corning marketing/commercial or manufacturing environment
• MBA or experience preferred
• Industry experience or demonstrated understanding of Business-to-Business model
· Ability to work with all functions and MAPs globally – Research, Development, Manufacturing/Supply Chain, Legal, HR, Finance, IT, etc.
• Project management, including superior problem-solving skills
• Strong analytical skills with a large data sets and affinity for rigor; able to distill data to a key insight
• Able to manage through systems; designs practices, processes and procedures to ensure quality and consistency of results
• Outstanding presentation and communication skills (verbal, written & presentation)
• Demonstrated ability to work within matrixed team structure across multiple functions, time zones and cultures
• Independent self-starter, taking initiative to resolve issues and identify opportunities
• Aptitude towards understanding customer needs (internal or external) and translating into customer requirements
• Business and financial acumen
• Demonstrated ability to absorb technical concepts, and translate into implications and action. A strong ‘technical curiosity’ is desired
• Action and results oriented, personally and through others.
• Deals with both paradox and ambiguity to overcome obstacles
• Organizational agility – creates alignment and action plans to support strategies and recommendations
