Full job description

NVIDIA has continuously reinvented itself over two decades. Our invention of the GPU in 1999 sparked the growth of the PC gaming market, redefined modern computer graphics, and revolutionised parallel computing — with the GPU acting as the brains of computers, robots, and self-driving cars that can perceive and understand the world. Today, we are increasingly known as “the AI computing company.” We’re looking to grow our company and build our teams with the smartest people in the world. Join us at the forefront of technological advancement.

NVIDIA is seeking a Senior Director of Strategic Sourcing to lead the optics category globally. This role owns the end-to-end sourcing strategy for a highly critical and fast-growing Optics category, including supplier relationships, cost management, capacity planning, and risk mitigation. You are a recognized industry leader with strong executive relationships in the Optics ecosystem, bringing deep technical and business expertise, analytical rigor, and a collaborative leadership style. You have a proven track record of transforming commodity teams and driving high-impact supplier engagements.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Lead a team of Global Commodity Managers (GCMs) and partner closely with Engineering, Quality, Operations, and Finance to enable successful product ramps and long-term scalability.

  • Own the global sourcing strategy for Optics across all programs and product lifecycles, including multi-year roadmaps, supplier diversification, and second-source risk mitigation.

  • Partner with suppliers to accelerate capacity ramps and site bring-ups for new product launches, while proactively managing supply, geopolitical, and operational risks and leading escalation and recovery efforts.

  • Work in close partnership with Engineering, Quality, and Operations on supplier selection, build trade-offs, PCN approvals, demand planning, and inventory and cost alignment.

  • Own category cost targets and cost-reduction initiatives, evaluate supplier investments and NRE with a focus on financial returns, and drive rigor in forecasts, commitments, and liabilities.

  • Lead strategic and executive-level supplier relationships, negotiating commercial terms, capacity commitments, and investment models while managing performance across cost, quality, delivery, and technology readiness.

  • Build and lead a high-performing strategic sourcing team by setting clear goals, developing talent, and fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and data-driven decision-making.

What we need to see:

  • 15+ overall years of experience in strategic sourcing, supply chain, or procurement, with deep expertise in optics industry and related active, passive components

  • 7+ years of proven experience leading global suppliers and negotiating complex commercial agreements

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, capacity planning, and supplier qualification for Optics industry

  • Demonstrated success supporting high-volume ramps and new product introductions

  • 4+ years of experience in leading and developing teams

  • Experience working with key laser, module and passive component suppliers

  • Experience in supporting data center, AI systems, networking, or high-performance computing products

  • MBA or advanced technical degree (or equivalent experience)
