$18.87 – $32.83 Hourly

$39,244 – $68,285 Annually

Purpose of Position

THIS POSTING IS A CONTINUOUS POSTING AND WILL REMAIN OPEN UNTIL FILLED.

Why does the job exist?

The Financial Analyst serves as a senior analyst in the budget bureau. The position provides complex budget research and analysis of multiple funding sources (state appropriations, operating transfers, federal funds, other sources and fund balance)for assigned programs and divisions. This position compiles, analyzes and maintains a large volume of financial information that may not be obtainable through standard reporting processes.

How does it get done?

The budget bureau financial analyst position is responsible for compiling and presenting budget projections, preparing budget adjustment requests, monitoring special and IT appropriations, fiscal analysis of bills introduced and amended during legislative sessions, and providing guidance and support to the Bureau’s customers.

Who are the customers?

This position serves the Department of Public Safety’s executive management and staff, Department of Finance and Administration, Legislative Finance Committee, State Personnel Office and the Office of the Governor.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have previous experience, knowledge and skills in preparation and submission of annual appropriation requests and operating budget; have budget management experience to include revenues, expenditures, salaries/benefits and encumbrances; experience with Microsoft (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook); as well as experience with SHARE financials and Human Capital Management.

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration and four (4) years of experience in accounting, finance, economics and/or statistical analysis. Substitutions Apply. See Substitution Table below.

  • Education and years of experience must be related to the purpose of the position.

Working Conditions

Executive Order 2021-066 requires all employees with the State of New Mexico to provide either proof of COVID-19 vaccination (including proof of a booster dose of vaccine by January 17, 2022, or within four weeks of becoming eligible for a booster dose) or proof of a COVID-19 viral test every week.

The Public Health Order (on Vaccination) dated December 2, 2021, requires Congregate Care Facility Workers and Hospital Workers to have received a primary series of vaccination by October 6, 2021, and a booster dose of vaccine by January 17, 2022, or within four weeks of becoming eligible for a booster.

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT), extensive personal computer and phone usage.
