Tribu is looking for a Business Development intern

The Business Development Intern will gain hands-on exposure to the sales and business development process within a marketing agency environment. This internship is designed to provide educational experience and professional development opportunities by allowing the intern to observe real-world sales practices, learn client acquisition strategies, and develop foundational skills in prospect research, relationship building, CRM management, and business communication.

The intern will work closely with the Business Development team through mentorship, observation, and guided learning activities to better understand how agencies identify opportunities, build relationships, and support business growth.

Learning Opportunities & Responsibilities

The Business Development Intern will:

  • Observe real sales conversations, including discovery calls, proposal discussions, and client meetings, and participate in guided discussions to understand sales strategies, decision-making, and client relationship management.
  • Complete research exercises on potential clients and industries to learn how agencies evaluate company fit, identify opportunities, and understand ideal client profiles.
  • Gain exposure to CRM systems, including HubSpot, and learn how businesses organize relationship history, track opportunities, and manage sales processes.
  • Practice developing professional business communications, including outreach drafts and messaging exercises, while receiving feedback and coaching from the Business Development team.
  • Participate in weekly mentorship and training sessions focused on sales fundamentals, agency operations, client relationships, and professional development.
  • Complete reflection exercises and debriefs to discuss key takeaways and apply lessons learned throughout the internship experience.

Internship Objective

The goal of this internship is to provide students with meaningful exposure to the business development process while developing professional skills in communication, research, relationship management, and strategic thinking. Through mentorship and observation, interns will gain insight into careers in sales, marketing, and agency growth.

What is Tribu?

Tribu is a digital and design agency in San Antonio, Texas. We build “tribes” for our Tribe Partners (what most would call “Clients”). We’re award-winning (over 80 wins in our eight years of business) and progressive. We believe in breaking stuff and pushing boundaries, productively. We like innovation, technology (namely, the internet), and stellar design. We use all the fine knowledge we’ve gained from pressing mysterious buttons, some formal education, past “work” experience, and life in general to 1) build the best brands for our Tribe Partners and 2) ideate and execute digital marketing campaigns with highly measurable ROI. Those two efforts equal our outcome: We are fuel for the innovators and the wise risk taskers – we ignite Tribes that win market share for our Partners.
