VBIC – Company Information – Research key business magazines, industry reports, etc.

VBIC – Virtual Business Information Center, is a collection of electronic and print business resources intended to provide research assistance to the Robert H. Smith School of Business and general users seeking authoritative business information.  Please note that use for most of the resources is limited to University of Maryland students, staff, and faculty.

VBIC Company Information – These research tools give you access to articles from thousands of newspapers, trade publications, such as the Harvard Business Review and other major key business magazines, industry reports, market research reports, and much more.

Must be accessed through UMD’s Virtual Business Information Center (VBIC); Multiple business databases are accessible through the VBIC link.

To access, go to https://lib.guides.umd.edu/vbic, and click on “Company Information”. You will be asked to log in; use your assigned username and password, the same as Testudo and Canvas.

The VBIC site includes links to Internet resources with substantial free offerings, fee-based commercial databases that are available to University of Maryland faculty, students and staff through the University of Maryland libraries as well as some print sources available in the University of Maryland libraries.

This site was initially developed in 1998 by Dr. Eileen Abels, a professor in the College of Information Studies, with support of the Robert H. Smith School of Business. Currently the site is maintained by the University of Maryland Libraries.

VBIC is under continual development, both in content and design, in order to respond to the information needs of the target audience.
