We are currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Intern to join our Accounting team on a temporary basis – 40 hours per week for 10 weeks – to support our bank reconciliation and cash matching processes. This internship offers valuable hands-on experience in accounting operations within a fast-paced and collaborative environment, and is based at our support center in Boca Raton, Florida.

Overview:

As an Accounting Intern, you will work closely with our accounting team to ensure the accuracy and integrity of our financial records. You will be responsible for reconciling bank statements, matching cash receipts to payment postings, and conducting research to identify and resolve unmatched items. This position provides an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in accounting principles and procedures while contributing to the success of our organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Bank Reconciliation: Assist with reconciling bank statements to general ledger accounts, identifying and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Cash Matching: Match cash receipts to corresponding payment postings in the accounting system, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial transactions.
  • Research and Analysis: Conduct research to investigate and resolve unmatched items, collaborating with internal teams and external partners as needed.
  • Documentation: Maintain organized and accurate records of bank reconciliations, cash matching activities, and related documentation for audit purposes.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunites to streamline and improve bank reconciliation and cash matching processes, proposing recommendations for enhanced efficiency and accuracy.
  • Ad-Hoc Projects: Support the accounting team with ad-hoc projects and assignments as needed, contributing to departmental goals and objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform accurate and thorough reconciliations and matching activities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software/tools is preferred.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to research and resolve discrepancies effectively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Previous internship or coursework in accounting, finance, or related fields is a plus but not required.
