Role Summary:
The goal of an inventory specialist is to ensure accurate and efficient management of inventory at optimal levels in the warehouse. This involves managing day-to-day inventory control processes, including receiving, put-away, picking, packing, and shipping. The inventory specialist is responsible for performing physical counts and cycle counts of the warehouse inventory, conducting investigations of suspected out-of-balance items, and making corrections to the inventory based on that research, coordinating all special processing of inventory.
Job Responsibilities:
- Ensure that inventory levels meet company requirements or are at their highest and most up-to-date.
- Conduct physical counts and cycle counts regularly.
- Identify and resolve variances, as well as potential variances, to achieve an accurate perpetual inventory count and protect company assets.
- Develop and implement inventory control procedures to optimize inventory levels, collaborating with other departments such as inbound and outbound teams.
- Manage inventory storage and space utilization to maximize efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
- Participate in the training of inventory associates.
- Manage the Product Recall process.
- Lead fulfillment special projects, as needed.
- Write daily, weekly, and annual reports.
- Perform other tasks assigned by the supervisor/manager.
Qualifications:
- The employee must have proficient knowledge of English and good math skills.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A college degree is preferred.
- The employee must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Experience with WMS systems is preferred, and the employee must become proficient in the use of the Yita WMS within 90 days of hire.
- Must be able to operate powered industrial trucks (forklifts) and obtain certification.
Work Environment:
Must be able to adapt to the work environment, as it is typically indoors. Occasionally, outdoor work may be required, exposing individuals to local weather conditions.
Must be able to adapt to concrete floors in the warehouse, and vinyl or carpet on the interior, as well as cement outside.Moderate noise levels occur in the warehouse due to powered industrial truck horns operating for safety.
Physical and Mental Demands:
Lift up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently. This job also requires frequent standing and walking.
Frequent use of the upper extremities is required to reach, handle, grasp and use tools, equipment, and manipulate product.
The employee must know and follow proper office and safety and security protocols, including first response duties and emergency procedures
